Course Description: This course explores the interaction between recent technological advances and intellectual property law and policy. It surveys the different categories of intellectual property (patents, copyright, trademark, and trade secrets) and explores the impact of recent technological developments in areas such as microelectronics, signal processing, compression, computer software, networking and cryptography. New developments such as recent copyright law changes, open source software, the Creative Commons license, and proposed patent reform legislation will be examined and evaluated.
