About The Project

Lafayette College ECE Department is pleased to propose the design, fabrication, and deployment of the Lafayette Automated Rapid Transit Control System 2008 (LART-CS08) intended to simulate the efficient and safe movement of people around the Lafayette College campus on a passenger rail system.

Major Components

• A management User Interface (UI) and status display.
• Electrical interfaces with trolley position indicators, track switches, and engine speed control.
• Fail-safe automatic and manual control-algorithms embedded in reliable hardware.
• Local and wide area data networks for command, control, and communication.
• Informative train arrival displays.

 

This system shall be installed in Acopian Engineering Center room 419 and shall reliably, safely, and maintainably operate the existing (Customer Furnished Equipment, CFE) model transit system therein, performing on-demand demonstrations over a 5-year service life.
